Commemoration of World Hand Hygiene Day 2026

Commemoration of World Hand Hygiene
Day 2026.

In commemoration of World Hand Hygiene Day 2026, A Hand to Humanity (AH2) conducted
a school-based hygiene promotion outreach at Government Primary School Etoug-Ebé,
Yaoundé. The intervention aimed to strengthen hand hygiene knowledge and practices among
school-aged children through participatory learning methods, practical demonstrations, and
provision of essential hygiene infrastructure.
The activity reached approximately 1,000 pupils, significantly exceeding the initial target of
300 beneficiaries. Using interactive education tools, including music-based learning, peer
demonstrations, and WHO-aligned handwashing techniques, the intervention achieved high
levels of engagement and immediate skill demonstration among participants.
The initiative also contributed to strengthening the school’s hygiene infrastructure through the
installation of handwashing stations and provision of hygiene materials, laying the foundation
for sustained behavioral change.
